Racist "Reverend" Booted from Hate GroupMatt Hale, leader of the racist World Church of the Creator (WCOTC), announced that a Missoula-based "reverend" has been kicked out of the group. In early February, Hale circulated an e-mail stating that Missoula's Dan Hassett is no longer a member of WCOTC. Hale accused Hassett of embezzling money from WCOTC and threatening to give information to the FBI. Hale also said that Hassett had been using an e-mail account to harass current and former WCOTC activists. Hale concluded his note by saying that sometimes a group needs to "wash away that which is dirty" to stay clean. In an e-mail attributed to Hassett by Hale, Hassett wrote that Hale is betraying the white race and WCOTC. Hassett also mentioned that he possesses e-mails in which Hale has directed attacks against certain people who used to be affiliated with WCOTC. Hale dismisses these allegations, saying he always acts "completely legally and honorably." Hassett is a long-time member of WCOTC, belonging to the hate group before Hale took over. Hassett has been named the group's "Creator of the Year" in past. The award is given to the racist that does the most to spread WCOTC's message. Slim's Cabin Burns Montana's other racist "reverend" has also hit hard times. Slim Deardorff's shack outside of Superior burned to the ground on January 12, 2002. The shack has been the site of WCOTC's annual gathering. Hassett circulated a message encouraging people to send donations to Deardorff so he can rebuild.
