Help Send Butte's Nazi-Fighting Grandmother to DenmarkMontanans have an opportunity to say that we will not allow Nazis to go unchecked, no matter where they are located. Edith Craig, a Butte grandmother and recipient of the MHRN's Walt Brown award, stood against the Nazis in Denmark. Now we need your help to send her to Denmark. Last year, Craig discovered that her late half brother Gunner Gram had been a member of the Nazi Party. He willed a house in Aalborg, Denmark, to the Nazi Party. Upon learning about the house, Craig decided to contest the will to wrest the house from the Nazis. The three-story brick home sits in the middle of a residential neighborhood and features a 6.5 foot swastika. The Nazis have turned the house into their national headquarters. In the spirit of Craig's courage, and as one community reaching out to another, MHRN is sending Craig and her daughter to Denmark in June. She will meet human rights activists in Denmark, and present a plaque from MHRN members to the people of Aalborg. The plaque will be placed at the sight of the house that Craig fought to liberate. It will commemorate the joint resolve of Montanans and the citizens of Denmark to stand against the Nazis. We need your help to pay for Craig's travel expenses and the cost of the plaque. Please help us with a special donation to defray the costs of her travel. Donations can be sent to MHRN at P.O. Box 1222, Helena, MT, 59624. Call (406) 442-5506 or e-mail Betty Kijewski at betty@mhrn.org for more information.
