Dinner Signals Start of MLK EventsThe Helena Human Rights Task Force hosted a commemorative dinner for Martin Luther King, Jr., on October 7th. The event marked the kick-off of a series of events to be held throughout the next three months to honor the life and work of MLK. Wilmot Collins, Residential Team Leader at Aspen Youth Alternatives, gave an inspirational address entitled, "Dr. King Would Be Proud," and the Montana Women's Chorus sang a medley of songs. Youth for Unity members were instrumental in making this event successful by volunteering to decorate, clean up the Neighborhood Center, and serve dinner. The Helena Human Rights Task Force will be selling calendars for the year 2000 to raise money for a scholarship fund which will be awarded to seniors involved in human rights activities. The calendars chronicle historic human rights events and activists. To get your calendar for $10 call Jodi at 442-5506. |
