We Believe
The 50 Voices believe that discrimination is wrong, and should be against the law.
Amending Montana’s existing Human Rights Act to include sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, will allow all hardworking Montanans the chance to earn a living without the fear of unfairly losing their job or home.
The 50 Voices believe that all Montanans should live free of threats, harassment and assault.
Gay and transgender people have been assaulted in communities from Missoula to Miles City. Montana hate crimes law protects people because of their race and religion, but specifically excludes gay and transgender people. Expanding Montana’s hate crimes law to include sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, will assist law enforcement in prosecuting and preventing these crimes.
